New Development of Apartments at Stamford Street, London
Description

The site for the 8 storey residential building is defined by the Grade 2 listed Doric portico with its flanking walls. The new building which comprises of 58, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments is located behind the portico. Its north face is crescent shaped and forms a backdrop behind the portico. The main entrance is via the portico.

The top two storeys of the building will be set back along the street facades to reduce the apparent height of the building by obscuring them from view when seen from Hatfields and Stamford Street.. The floor plans are arranged around an open atrium
which extends to the full height of the building. The access corridors overlook the atrium which will provide natural light and ventilation. The upper two storeys will have the benefit of open roof gardens which is a direct benefit of setting the floors back
from the face of the building. The building will be roofed with an inward falling standing seam metal roof.

The continuity of the streetscape along the south edge of Stamford Street will be completed by the proposed residential building and is intended to carry the eye upwards from the school building to Devonshire House. The proposed building closes
a gap in the streetscape.
