The scheme incorporates a 'hybrid' theatre the first of its kind at a UK children’s hospital. The hybrid theatre is a theatre which allows open heart and keyhole surgery on the same child at the same time and boosts the child's chance of survival by reducing recovery time
Keyhole cardiac surgery can also be carried out in the catheterization laboratory incorporated in this scheme
