Continuing the visual language employed on the first phase of works at London Nautical School, this elevated extension provides the school with additional science laboratories and improved design technology facilities at ground floor level. The grey zinc cladding, reminiscent of ocean liners and battleships, alludes to the school’s distinctive nautical identity. A strong horizontal language is developed with the use of horizontal standing seam zinc cladding and aluminium strip windows.
London Nautical School is located in a Grade II listed building which has been outgrown by an increasing pupil intake. The project includes the building of 20 new classrooms, a new Sports Hall and remodelling and repair of the existing building.
