Kings School Library
Description

The new build Learning Resource Centre replaced an existing library in a poor 1970’s building. The new building combines Library, ICT and Resources all in one building, whilst also retaining space for nearby primary schools to use on an occasional basis. The building sits on top of a steep bank overlooking the school paying fields and surrounding woodland, and it is designed to curve around some existing mature trees which provide excellent solar shading in the summer. It completes an urban design strategy which results in a new school square being created, surrounded by Sixth Form. Music & Drama, Art and the LRC buildings.

The project was part of a Fresh Start initiative which also provided :- Music & Drama, Sports Hall and Modern Foreign Languages department buildings at a total cost of £2.7 million
