Etwall Leisure Centre
Description

The Sports Centre is for use by both The John Port School and the local community, run jointly run by the School and South Derbyshire District Council.

The facilities include :-

A six court Sports Hall, fitness suite, 2 classrooms, and changing facilities for internal and external sports changing.

A 25 metre, six lane swimming pool, with village changing, dedicated disabled changing / toilets, viewing / café area, reception and associated staff facilities.

Two blue rendered walls adjacent to the main entrance emphasise the approach and sense of arrival and also ties the building into an adjacent building (new Edale - completed 2006)

The building façade is generally low level buff brickwork with feature blue brick stretcher courses up to door head height (this continues the materials used on all the recent new building on the school site, and helps maintain the relationship of all the buildings and emphasising the concept of the school campus).

Sustainable western red cedar rain screen cladding has been utilised above the brickwork.

Brise Soleil louvres protect the swimming pool from direct sunlight.

View of the deck level 25 metre 6 lane competition swimming pool.

Sustainable glulam beams span the pool.

View of the Sports Hall with facilities for Badminton, Basketball, 5-a-side football, cricket and hockey.

The hall conforms to Badminton England's county development centre requirements

The swimming pool viewing area cafe with servery / vending area at the far end.

The space can also be utilised to house various events.

A strong horizontal band over door-head height of either recessed blue bricks or powder coated aluminium windows / louvres  as appropriate visually breaks the elevation horizontally, with timber cladding and exposed steel columns / beams above.
