Following completion of a new dining hall extension, pupils at Emanuel School in Wandsworth now enjoy the benefits of a light and contemporary dining space looking out over the school’s sports pitches. In warm weather sliding-folding doors on the south façade can be opened fully to extend the dining space out onto an external paved terrace.
White painted timber cladding and pre-patinated copper roofing provide continuity with the adjoining pavilion building and school hall. The form of the extension as well as the detailing of windows, doors and cladding is visually minimal and precise providing the building with a contemporary architectural clarity.
