Planning consent has been granted for this new three storey arts and humanities block. The building is designed to wrap around two sides of an existing block to form a courtyard space within and to provide acoustic attenuation from the railway beyond. As well as general teaching rooms, the building will provide art teaching facilties including a ceramics classroom (with a dedicated kiln room) and a dark room.
Sound-proof music practice rooms will be provided on the ground floor. A glazed link to the existing building will serve as a gallery space for art displays and also as a break-out space for interval drinks for the adjoining school theatre.
